10×10 Photography Project
All these artists are women or trans folks. They have been photographed in environments historically considered unsafe for women and trans folks, which is basically almost any space. With input from the artists, the spaces chosen are; an underground parking lot, a bar, a public bathroom, an alleyway, a construction site, public transit, and ones own home as well as those recently brought to the fore through the Me Too movement, work space, a film set and a theatre rehearsal space. Each artist was instructed to own the space they were in, to take up space, to occupy the space apologetically, to show their strength, defiance, boldness and presence.
