Traveling and shooting gives me a chance to get outside myself. Literally and figuratively. It’s solitude, a time to relax and let things happen. There’s nothing like coming upon a scene for the first time, that sense of newness, of awe and discovery. Your mind’s eye hungry to take it all in. Your imagination races; how can I capture it; take a piece for myself. Take, but leave it untouched, exactly as I found it.

Event photography exercises other skills, thinking on your feet, being in the moment, seizing every opportunity. There’s a buzz in the air. Your senses are heightened. Anything can happen! There’s no time to let things happen. Shoot first and ask questions later.
